Video: Okinawa

I made a little video of my trip to Zamami, Okinawa with Jeff during golden week.
Which turned out mostly to consist of Jeff dancing while I poked at every sea animal I came across. 'Twas a great vacation.

I am quite proud of my little vid, enjoy!

iphone phun: okinawa

I had big plans to upload tons of pics from my last few days in Okinawa, but my mac was giving me attitude so I took it to the Apple store last night. Turns out he had to be admitted for maintenance. So, for now we are going to have to go with iphone pics while mac makes a full recovery.

Without further ado, here are the stunning pictures from the week my friend Jeff and I just spent on Zamami Island, an hour by ferry off the coast of Naha, Okinawa. Zamami comes to you highly recommended: laid back vibe, small town feel, not at all touristy and more beautiful that you could imagine.
Go. Just do it. You won't be disappointed.

Enjoy!

P.S. Get well soon, Mac!

Hong Kong I

For the last few days of my spring break, I flew to Hong Kong for a lovely 4 night, 5 day visit. No one else was free to go with me, so from the get go I had planned to go alone. I chose to stay at Check Inn HK in centrally located Wan Chi, and highly recommend it! With my flight and hostel booked, I had done some research and was ready to play tourist on my own. I asked my friend, and fellow JET, Kris for a few recommendations. Kris a UK native, had spent one year at Hong Kong University as an exchange student, and has regaled me with stories of Hong Kong's fabulousness since I met him.

Low and behold, about a week before my departure Kris got on board the Hong Kong plan and somehow managed to get in the same hostel. Upon arrival he became my personal tour guide the entire time I was there.
It was great.

I have quite a few pics so I am going to split them over two posts.
In no particular order, here is Hong Kong round one
Enjoy!

Airborne

For the last few days of my spring break I flew to Hong Kong, and it was fabulous. I absolutely fell in love with that city. I have so many pictures I want to share, but they are all on my camera, and I have yet to transfer them to my computer and comb through them.
So, until that day, allow me to share with you some pictures of the city from way, way up.
I took these last week upon my departure out of the city, and they turned out to be a few of my faves.

Thanks for everything, Hong Kong.
Hong Konged,
Kate

Airborne

I discovered a new favorite hobby: taking pictures from airplane windows. The view outside, assuming it's light out, is always stunning even if you are just looking at clouds. Plus, there is the added fun of not getting caught by a stewardess, so far I'm 4/4. Either I'm real smooth or they just don't care as much as I think they do.

Here are a few shots from up above, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Narita, Japan.

[Japan]
I couldn't get my phone out in time before we landed of the seemingly endless rice fields.
So, I had to settle for a pic on the ground. Next time.
Those two symbols together mean, Japan.

Grounded,
