Words

For what it's worth:
It's never too late or in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be.
There is no time limit, stop whenever you want.
You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing.
We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it.
And I hope you see things that startle you.
I hope you feel things that you never felt before.
I hope you meet people with a different point of view.
I hope you live a life you're proud of.
If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

Weekend Update

A little late, but...
spent this last weekend playing in the California winter sun. Worked in a hike to Griffith Observatory and as many outdoor meals as possible.

Highlights included...

-1-
A Friday night birthday party that brought together girls from soccer days, high school and college.

-2-
The best Vietnamese food from Gingergrass after our hike.

-3-
The view from Sunday brunch.

-4-
A birthday party at Medieval Times.
We filled an entire school bus with beer and 20-somethings, headed back in time to watch jousting while we ate with our hands and drank out of massive mugs.
'twas a glorious evening.

Happy Birthday, Matty!

2015

Welcome, 2015!

A lot has happened since starting this blog almost five years ago.
As someone who thinks of her life as relatively "even keel", it amazes me to look back through the posts of this space and see, really see, all that I have experienced.
New places, new people, mistakes, goals, heartbreak, belly laughs.
Life.

This past year, without question, was for me one of the most difficult thus far, while simultaneously resulting in an enormous amount of growth. Since then, I have found myself (silly as it sounds) sticking up for myself in lots of ways, and it is oh-so-refreshing. Deliberate is my word for 2015 (my version of a New Year's resolution) and now more than ever, I am working on being deliberate in what I do and why I do it. Filling my time with people and activities that are enjoyable and meaningful to me.

One of the things I was desperately missing was a creative outlet. I love blogging. Writing. Editing pictures. I truly believe there is really something valuable about taking the time to put words to pictures. Conjuring up captions and anecdotes forces one to put thought and meaning behind the simple snapshot in time. An act that gets exponentially more valuable over time.

I am eager to revisit this space, find my voice again, perhaps revamp the space, and more than anything, force myself to take a moment and add stories to the thousands of pictures that fill my digital devices.

Can't wait to see what the future posts will hold.

Cheers to fresh starts!

Moment

This picture comes to you with out cropping, filters, pre-meditation or anything else there is an app for. Just a moment captured as I drove down the street on the way to see Tom Petty.
That is all.

Kate

P.S. Tom Petty and crew. This one has been edited and cropped.

LA Grand Central Market

A few weekends ago, Kiana and I made our way downtown to LA's Grand Central Market.
The market consists of booths with authentic food from all over the world, just my kind of place. We arrived with empty stomachs and plenty of cash. After taking in the sights and sounds, we settled on Thai food (my all time favorite). We piled ourselves onto on of the little stools and enjoyed our curry while we discussed what was next on the menu.

The rest of our morning went something like this...
-coffee to go as we walked through downtown on our way to Bodega Louie's.
-a box each of the most beautiful macaroons ever from BL.
-back to the market to buy a pizza to go.
-Cowgirl creamery cheese to go.
-staring at the ice cream place kicking ourselves that we didn't have room.

Fat and happy,
Kate

Photo-Dump: Port Angeles

A few pictures from the Port Angeles wedding that took place back here.
That town is one of the most photogenic I've ever visited, here are a few extra photos if you'd like to see.
Enjoy!
